Aqueous foam technology
Terra Foam is in the category of a non-hardening, aqueous foam which is one of the most commonly prescribed technologies for preventing the release of VOCs, odors and dust during MGP remediation. The performance advantages of foam are its application flexibility, instantaneous results, customizable duration and cost effectiveness. Aqueous foams are completely biodegradable, do not interfere with any standard soil treatment processes and do not materially contribute to waste stream volume

Application flexibility
Terra Foam's flexibility stems from its ability to effectively seal virtually any surface. For example, an operator can quickly spray foam over a pile of freshly excavated soil, effectively eliminating VOCs, odor and dust egress. Minutes later, that same operator can spray a barrier layer over the interior of a partially excavated gas holder filled with a combination of coal tar and site runoff. This flexibility is not available with temporary shelters and barrier films.

Instantaneous Results
While nobody likes surprises, in the world of MGP remediation, surprises can happen. When a heavily contaminated area is unexpectedly encountered and VOC levels spike, foam can immediately suppress emissions, allowing work to continue safely and on schedule. In such cases, foam can be sprayed over the area even as bucketfuls of contaminated material (now effectively sealed) are removed. Aqueous foams while functioning as a cover, can also serve as odor-neutralizing agents when formulated with concentrated bio-degradable malodor management compounds. When augmented with essential oils, they provide a pleasant fragrance to the area, a surprising change to what would ordinarily be experienced.
